Upcycling brewers’ spent grain to nutritious flour and flour-based products.

Our investment decision is guided by a wish to reduce land used for agriculture by reducing waste of valuable side streams, reduce the world’s protein deficiency, and promote decentralized food production.

Agrain upcycles spent grains from beer production to create flour with a significantly lowered environmental footprint and heightened nutritional benefits compared to traditional baking flour.

Agrain demonstrates that a side stream otherwise considered waste can be a source of valuable nutrition and simultaneously a way of reducing land use and CO2 emissions in food production. This way, Agrain creates tangible impact while inspiring change in a broken food system.

Transforming companies’ outdoor spaces from plain grass lawns into bustling, biodiverse gardens.

Our investment decision is guided by a wish to enhance employees’ wellbeing and strengthen their connection to the rest of nature, fostering greater awareness and interest in ecosystems and the climate. From this point of departure, we aim to create ripple effects in behavior and highlight the importance of larger scale biodiversity.

Fælleshaven plants flower beds and fruit orchards, builds green, outdoor meeting spaces and set up kitchen gardens with vegetables and herbs for company canteens. Besides the landscaping, Fælleshaven also enable engagement through outdoor activities where employees can learn about native species, collect seeds, or extract honey.

Fælleshaven aims to improve the wellbeing of employees and increase their connection to the rest of nature, and thereby heighten awareness of and interest in nature, ecosystems, and the climate, to create ripple effects in behaviour and awareness of the importance of biodiversity from this point of departure.

Developing locally tailored microbial products that increase yield in sustainable agriculture.

Our investment decision is guided by a wish to promote sustainable farming practices by increasing the availability of high-quality agricultural input that can boost biodynamic and organic farmers’ competitiveness compared to conventional practices.

Nordic Microbes produces locally sourced all-natural, microbial products, that can help farmers achieve a higher and better yield while improving soil health and resilience through sustainable agricultural practices.

Using a device called the microbeTRAP, which helps identify local, beneficial microbes and grow the microbes using simple, natural ingredients like organic sugar and potatoes. These microbes are then used to enhance soil fertility and plant health naturally, which helps transform poor, degraded land into fertile, productive fields without the harmful side-effects of conventional fertilizers.

Providing solutions for soil remediation and waste upcycling through expertise in fungi and biomimicry.

Our investment decision is guided by a wish to support the development of knowledge, expertise, and applications of the >1.3 million fungi strands, that are still unused in industry but holding enormous potential for sustainable solutions to a wide range of waste and pollution problems.

Novobiom leverages its deep expertise in fungi and biomimicry to harness some of the 1.3 million known fungi strains, the vast majority of which remain untapped in industrial applications, to provide bioremediation services for contaminated soils and other waste.

Novobiom's approach to waste management uses fungal biotechnology to convert waste into valuable resources. This process mimics natural recycling processes, contributing to turning an escalating and increasingly dangerous global waste problem into new resources. They currently work within soil remediation, textile recycling, and circularity in cosmetics.

Using Greenlandinc rock flour to increase agricultural yield and sequest CO2 long term.

Our investment decision is guided by a wish to support the revitalization of depleted soils in the Global South, generating sustainable increases in agricultural yield, while activating the carbon-binding qualities of GRF that appear when applied in warm climates.

Ten thousand years ago, as glaciers from the last ice age receded from the northern hemisphere, they left behind nutrient-rich glacial rock flour, significantly enriching the soil. This natural bounty created exceptionally favorable conditions for agriculture, giving the northern hemisphere a lasting advantage that has shaped human development and contributed to today’s disparities.

Geologist Minik Rosing and his team have discovered that Greenlandic rock flour (GRF), found abundantly as of today in the melting waters, landscapes, and shores around glaciers, possesses these same beneficial qualities. The Rock Flour Company has demonstrated that treating depleted soils in warm climates with GRF can significantly increase agricultural yields. What makes GRF particularly remarkable is its dual role as a natural, highly effective fertilizer and a powerful long-term carbon sequestration agent, capable of storing carbon for up to 100,000 years when applied in warm climates.
